After a forgettable performance last week, Carlton is seeking to bounce back quickly against an in-form St Kilda side.

With Adam Saad officially being ruled out with injury, it gives mature-age product, Alex Cincotta a chance to shine off half-back and help the Blues’ injury crisis in defence.

Carlton assistant coach, Ash Hansen was pleased to confirm Cincotta’s debut and praised him for his persistence and resilience.

“Alex Cincotta will make his debut for the Carlton Football Club which is really exciting. A great story of persistence, resilience and following your dreams,” he said.

“He (Cincotta) is certainly well equipped, through his journey and being in our system for the last two years to play that half-back role”.

In reflection on last week, Hansen said the team would be on alert to not be caught out by any team come the first bounce.

“That first quarter certainly wasn’t what we want to stand for, and we are looking forward to a good reply,” he said.

Things don’t get easier for the Blues as they face the Saints, who are currently sitting on top of the ladder.

A star for the Saints has been key defender, Callum Wilkie, who Hansen noted the Blues would have to be mindful of.

“I think his ability to read the play and his positioning has been really consistent,” Hansen said.

Approximately 50,000 people are projected to be at Marvel Stadium this afternoon. Hansen described how the club was grateful for the opportunity.

“We are really grateful and fortunate to be at a sell-out again at Marvel Stadium, which is exciting for our group and for our fans to be a part of that.”
